I love how beautiful and vibrant these stairs look against the drab colors of the city around them. That font is making me picture them in a scene of a Wes Anderson film.
Some of the words translated:

to fall in love
sympathy

to get the tinglies / goose flesh

totally awesome.
ReplyDeletethe first step of your staircase
ReplyDeletewill be, i predict, the most painful
to climb, though only inches from the street.
i stand and cringe before raising an
impossibly aching and perfectly arched
foot, clinging to the well-worn edge -
pine upon each slender panel of discovery
then dance up two before stumbling upon
the fourth, a bright blue stripe of
sluiced rainwater washing away both fear
and the evidence of 25 years spent,
barefoot, in the dirt -
i stand and stare toward the many echelons which
still wait to quicken my heartbeat with the
effort of a hungrily sped climb; sun splashed color
spurs my resolve as i count the possibilities
waiting atop each plateau of perseverance;
the last step visible, but still a lifetime
away.
thanks for the inspiration, cheryl :)
